Challenges for Blogging As a Teacher

I'm embarrassed to see the dates and numbers of my posts in this blog.

Then I start to think about why. Blogspot is filtered in my district. Since I spend 10+ hours a day at school Monday through Thursday, it is not possible to connect and update this blog until I get home.

Once home, I have family responsibilities to carry out and next day planning to complete, along with updating wikis and monitoring RSS feeds, Facebook, and ....

Since my blogs on Blogspot aren't in my current habit pattern, they're neglected and unimportant.

Does this scenario resonate with anyone else?
... maybe I'm simply slow and lazy ...
I'm having trouble with that picture!

New Habits Are Difficult to Form

It's embarassing to come back to a blog site I set up over a year ago to see that I haven't shared anything that I've been learning ...

And I've been learning a lot. More importantly I've been developing LOTS of questions about learning. Instead of taking the time to pose the questions on my blog, they stay in my head, as I go out searching for others with similar questions and possible answers.

With huge appreciation for interactive web tools like eluminate, gotomeeting, and webcast, I've managed to participate in conversations and idea-sharing around the world. I missed the Classroom 2.0 session this morning ... and know that I miss more than I take in. Thanks to Steve Hagadon for maintaining the dynamic and vibrant Classroom 2.0 site. What a treasure!

So, now to figure out how to become more disciplined in developing a blog habit ... any ideas? I'm listening!
